A full kitchen remodel may not be on your immediate to-do list, but simply swapping in a new appliances is an quick way to upgrade your space. Whether you’re looking to install a new range, a dishwasher, or a refrigerator (including new water supply lines for water/ice dispensers), we can help.
Pro Tip:
Of course the most important thing to do when considering ANY appliance is to measure. Here are some measurement tips to get you started:
- When replacing your dishwasher, make sure you are measuring from the floor to the bottom of the counter top. Often times when flooring has been replaced you may run into an issue with the new dishwasher not fitting correctly. If you are installing a new island in your kitchen, make sure that you have enough space between your island and any other cupboards to allow the dishwasher door to open. Sometimes the spacing can be tight and you cannot walk in between the two when the door is open.
- For refrigerators, measure your home’s doorway, as well as the clearance between your kitchen island (if you have one) and your counters. Measure everything you can get your hands on! You would be amazed at how many times we’ve seen beautiful new appliances delivered only to find it can’t fit into place.
What to consider when buying new appliances?
- Research brands reviews and reputations
- Research the appliance features (there are so many new options!)
- Determine which features you really need.
- Set your budget
- Measure to ensure the unit you’ve chosen will fit in your home.
- Measure again 🙂
Which appliances can be repaired instead of buying new ones?
If an appliance is more than 50% through its lifespan, and if the cost of one repair is more than 50% of the cost of buying new, then you should replace rather than repair. To do the math, you’ll have to know the typical lifespan, and get a repair estimate.
When should you buy new appliances?
If you have an option, the best time to buy appliances is when new models roll out: washers, dryers, and dishwashers in September and October, refrigerators in May, and ranges/ovens in January. When manufacturers unveil the latest models, retailers reduce prices on models from previous years at these times to create more room for new models.
Should you replace all your appliances at once?
Remember the 50/50 rule. Here’s a good rule of thumb to follow when something goes wrong with your appliance: If it’s more than halfway through its lifespan and will cost half as much to repair as to replace, just replace it.
